Here you can see some of the boxes of the kits I’ve been building. I’ll have to deal with that problem at some point. Akatsuki is sitting there, just waiting to be built. The appearance of the Akatsuki mech in the Gundam Seed Destiny anime was a great moment, and I thought it would a be a great change to not have to paint the armour as usual. Never-the-less, the airbrush is ready. No doubt the frame will have to be painted, and the weapons.Paint supplies are holding up well, although I do have some more on order. I go through a fair amount of the Alclad metallics, and I’m all out of Tamiya flat white! I use a variety of different airbrush paints, and although not specifically designed for models, I’m finding the Createx pearl effect paints useful, and of course, they’re very much more affordable than many model paints. The small jars with the pipette on the top are new to me FW Acrylics and they’re working well, and very convenient. I’ve used their Payne’s Grey extensively, either as shading or as a mix-in with the Tamiya or Createx white to create some nice blue / greys.
The paint booth is about as clean as it ever gets!
I have a great view from my desk. My basic tools are there – a fine paint-brush, side cutters, medical scalpels (I vastly prefer them to hobby knives), various glues and fillers, Rapidograph pen and ink, Micron pigment pens and of course, the cutting mat. I use clear the egg cartons for part storage and for moving parts between the work area and the airbrush area. If I need to keep parts together while I work on others I use little clear sandwich baggies.
Here’s Akatsuki!
And the open box with the fantastic gold parts! They all look underhung, which should make for a pleasant build.
